Storytelling Workshops
I offer workshops that teach oral storytelling techniques for both adults and students. Oral storytelling is not just for librarians, but a skill needed to succeed in the workplace and at school. Students who learn oral storytelling perform better when giving presentations, oral reports, and speeches in school. I provide both students and adults with the techniques and skills to become successful public speakers or storytellers.
Taylor, a 4th grader at one of my storytelling workshops said, "I want to learn how to tell stories for presentations in school. I want to speak up." Gazette, March 2007. After the workshop, Taylor said, "If I had to do a report on a person, I could act like him or her."
If you are looking for a hands-on experience in a creative dramatics workshop, this performer should bring any rollicking tale - traditional or modern - to life as she invites audience participation! Denise is able to validate each child in the process. For these reasons, I heartily recommend her programs to a wide and diverse audience. Each in attendance will experience something of value that can be taken with him/her. She is, without a doubt, a dynamic performer!--Ginny Dunkelberger
Acting Workshops and Improv Classes for children, Teens, and Adults!
I have acted in numerous productions in Colorado Springs. I minored in theater in college and enjoy teaching children, teens, and adults acting techniques. I have taught successful Improv workshops for teens. Over 65 teens participated in my workshops! I enjoy doing melodramas at Sunnyside Christian Church. Come check out our fall production!
Participants of my workshops learn accents, dramatic facial expressions, projection, character analysis, and perform various improv scenes to the delight of audiences. I also directed a Teen Drama troupe at the Pikes Peak Library District for two years. Teens performed fractured fairytales for children.
